corner view "stranger"

While in Europe this past summer, I noticed all of the people I was around. It was interesting being around kids my age but not being able to communicate with them.

I kept asking my mom if she was positive I wasn't somehow part Italian. She said no. So I told her, "Fine, I'll just marry an Italian." :P

Plus, somehow in Europe, everyone is just so beautiful...

Here are some beautiful strangers

corner view "rough"

Even though I'm in Hawaii and we've also been receiving a little rain and an expected hurricane this weekend, it hasn't been too rough. :P Well, maybe the waves have been thanks to the winter swells coming.
I personally love the sunny weather but the rain is nice for a few hours... or minutes (Hawaii time).

What has been rough more than anything is applying for colleges. There's lots of work to decide what schools to apply to and to get everything organized. And there are lots of essays to write. But I feel happy about how things are turning out.

The first application was the most work. I just finished! It feels so good! Now I'm ready for the hurricane. :P

corner view "in my wardrobe"

My wardrobe has changed quite a bit over the years. I feel that it seems to reflect a lot of where I am in my life. I have never been super girly. I've always been athletic and sporty but at times, quite eccentric. Let's take a bit of a walk down memory lane, shall we?

Up until about the age of 8, I wore dresses almost every day. Not because I wanted to be a princess or whatever, but because I was too lazy to wear anything else. I wore a pair of jeans a total of ONE time on a plane. Yeah.

Anyway, at age 8, I became quite... Obsessed with Paul McCartney. Please don't ask me why this gave me the need to dress like him, I was a strange child. However, my style quickly changed into t-shirts and shorts everyday. And don't forget my curly auburn pigtails. After a few years of this, I reverted back to dresses for a while but at 10 it was shorts and t-shirts again for many years.

When I was 13 I became obsessed with Michael Jackson and dressed like him. When I was 14 I chopped off all my hair and dressed like a boy and wore a hat for about two years. That was fun for my parents. And then my style reverted back to my 12- year-old style for a while -- plain colored t-shirts and jean shorts.

Right down to the loafers. *facepalm*

Finally, at the end of my sophomore year of high school, I was beginning to dress somewhat normally. And by junior year, I was just in shorts and t-shirts and the occasional tank top. My hair has grown a lot since then. I don't really regret any of my odd stages. I never rebelled much other than that. Now at 18, I dress a lot of different ways, depending on the day. But usually, it's quite sporty (with the VERY occasional dress). :P

Oooo fancy

Anyway, a lot of people believe your style and wardrobe is a huge form of self expression. And whether you try to make it so or not, it sort of is. Even for you boys out there. :P You dress for a job or a hobby or just what makes you feel comfortable. It's kinda funny because it's just cloth to cover you and give you some sort of modesty and dignity but people over complicate it. I'm guilty of this. :P It's not bad, just something that's interesting to be aware of. To this day, I am still super uncomfortable wearing my hair down. It's always in a ponytail or a bun. But I guess there's always something to work up to, right?
